Do You Like Watching Movies?

Calling other Pinoy Melbournians. Okay, maybe you don’t even need to be a Filipino. Anyway, I’m wondering if there’s anybody here whose hobby is to watch movies like me. I’ve been thinking of an activity that I could invite other people to join me on a regular basis (like weekly perhaps) and make it as an excuse to socialise.

So, I thought, hey, I like watching movies! And maybe there are others out there who similarly like watching movies. If there are, then maybe we can all go out and meet at the city and watch a movie there on an almost weekly basis. And after watching the movie, we can hang out somewhere for refreshments and some story-swapping.

What do you guys think? If you’re interested, just leave me a comment and I’ll try to get back to you. The we can arrange when we’ll meet and so on. And if there are more than a few of us, we can even make this into a sort of social group or something. I can create a mailing list where we can discuss what next movie we’re gonna watch and when and discuss about the movies themselves.

Okay, so I’m thinking ahead too much. If you are interested, please let me know. I’m always eager to make new friends.

  1. Hi Marlon. Sure you can join. πŸ™‚ I’ll let you know if there’s a movie we’re going to in the city.

  2. Hey there!

This sounds fun! Can I join too? Moved here in Melbourne just over 3 yrs ago and I’m always keen on meeting other Pinoys.

  3. Hey nussh! Of course, you can! πŸ˜€ I’ll email ya.

  4. hey guys!
I love to watch movies as well. Can I join? I live in Richmond.

  5. Hi Audie!

No worries. So, would you like to go out and watch a movie some time?

As for tennis, well, I’m not much of a tennis player but I do know of Filipinos here who do play tennis and badminton. I’ll let them know you’re interested, if you want. πŸ™‚

  6. Hi Geejay. I’d love to watch movies and socialize with other Filipinos as well.

Anyways, I’ve never had the chance to thank you for this site which helped me on moving to Melbourne. I’m a single 32 year old chef who knew nobody at all before coming here. Thanks for all the information.

Actually, I was just about to turn-off my laptop to go to the Victoria Gardens (I live at Hawthorne) to watch United 93 when I decided to check your latest post. Watching movies alone can be a little lonely at times though I used to do that quite frequently in Manila.

I work in hospitality so my days-off change on a weekly basis. But I’ve been getting some Saturdays off lately. Do you play tennis by any chance?…….. cos I’ve been aching to get some exercise other than running around the kitchen.

Hey, I’ll see you in the movies……

  7. Hi Rick!

I would love to go out with you and Fatima one of these days, sure! πŸ™‚ Tonight is no good though. We have an appointment with H&R Block tonight. You know those taxes.

As for art-house cinema, well, I must confess that I’m not too much into art films although I’m not averse to watching them. It will have to depend on the story first. But yeah, I’m more of the blockbusters and geeky movies kind of guy. πŸ˜‰

I’ve never been to the Sunshine Megaplex before. So, are the students the only reason why she avoids the Werribee Plaza cinemas?

  8. G’day Geejay,

My wife, Fatima, tried starting up something similar a few years back.

We’re into movies (and are dissapointed there’s no art-house cinema near Werribee) and would love to come along. We go into Kino or Nova when we can, but also watch the ‘blockbusters’ though prefer the Sunshine Megaplex than Werribee (Fatima is a teacher — too many students @ w’bee!).

We were going out with some friends tonight, but they’ve cancelled 😦

    Rick Measham
